August Canal Water Works
For those that have never been to the rash site, here are the directions.
1. Take Broad Street to where it crosses the canal (between 15th street and
Milledge Road). Next to where the canal and Broad Street intersect, you will
see the Standard textile Mill (old King's Mill). The road that goes past the
mill is Goodrich street (tricky little turn between the bridge and the mill).
Take Goodrich, go past the old confederate powder works chimney on your right,
crossing over the railroad tracks in the process. Stay on Goodrich as the
pavement will turn into gravel and you will be driving with the railroad tracks
and canal on your left. You will come to a little left turn to go over the
railroad tracks, keep going on the road and it will turn into orange dirt. It
is now the Augusta Levee Road. It will go for a while and you will do a curve
right, curve left as you cross a small bridge, keep going as you go under the
Riverwatch parkway bridge. The canal is still on your left. The road will dead
end into a gate with a parking lot on the right. Park
here.......................
